Apple’s iPhone, iPad, and iPod have done nothing but impress the vast majority of customers for a myriad of reasons. Many quote the processing power and storage capability, while others love the minimalist aesthetics, as if it were technology sculpted from marble.
Let’s save the sci-fi for the movies. Here is a preview on what you might see right before your eyes, this April, and moving on into the year.
First, the Apple Watch: will it help or hinder the workplace? Techradar believes the watch will be a boon to business. Consider the payment option: users can pay for items using their wireless devices, securely, both in-store and online, using their Apple Watch. In addition, employees in a fluid workplace, where retrieving a phone from a pocket, typing in a password, sifting through apps, and then pulling up a calendar takes too much time, may find the watch to be a time-saver.
The New York Times predicts Apple Watches will give this generation, which as a whole has mostly dismissed watch-wearing, a reason to wear watches once again. No longer simply a time-telling mechanism, the new generation of watches worn is multi-functional, highly fashionable, and could become a staple of Apple users’ outfits.
“I didn’t hear the phone ring” is no longer a valid excuse for Apple Watch wearers. Indeed, mobile communication just got easier, as it’s a simple matter of tapping your wrist to answer a call or text, not digging a phone out of your bag. Perhaps, in this way, remote communication can more closely resemble in-person, one-on-one contact, as it becomes more immediate.
It may be hard to believe…no wait, it isn’t. There’s a gold Apple Watch. And, it costs more than 10 new iPads, according to Mashable. What a statement! An ephemeral one at that, since the technology will be outdated within a few years. Still, at least the gold Apple Watch is pretty.
It’s no wonder there’s so much buzz surrounding the Apple Watch, which seems to take the capabilities of the iPhone, quicken and extend them, and wrap them around your wrist for the easiest, most convenient, and most seamless access and interaction yet. These are predictions, but as for the real impacts—only time will tell.
